Boring
The podcast is just straight up boring. It’s the same stuff you hear everywhere else. “Being in the army taught me discipline, teamwork...” Yeah we get that. No one wants to hear that. No one cares. It doesn’t make for good entertainment. Bring on Vets and talk about their tours. What they did overseas, what combat was like, what hard decision did you have to make while in combat etc. Hard questions. It feels like every official Canadian Army source is scared to show what’s actually done in war. Soldiers kill, get killed, get hurt. Talk about it. You need interesting guests. Not the troops that have only done courses and no deployments talking about how waking up early in the morning sucks... I would much rather listen to a Vet talk about their deployment than some new Cpl talking about what it’s like being in the reserves. I get that this is the official Army podcast and they don’t want to have people on talking about how they smoked some Taliban or what they witnessed in say Bosnia, but the current content is just boring. Get some Vets on to talk about the lesser known wars too. I’d love to hear about Canada’s involvement in the Korean War, Gulf War, Kosovo... I spent 10 years in the Infantry and heard literally nothing about these wars. It’s always the same questions everywhere you go. “What was your favourite part of basic” “why did you join” “how have you changed” blah blah blah.... No one cares. Get some good content that we haven’t heard a million times over.

Listening to this Podcast makes me feel, if I just graduated high school again. I would serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. What great gain in all kinds of knowledge. I work with some ex military soldiers. Have a lot of respect for them.
