One sided
This is undisputed: One woman was alone, attacked by a stranger in the dark, thrown to the ground, groped terribly, hit and her phone stolen. The assault was reported immediately and the assailant admitted all of it. It turned out that assailant had done this to at least five other women. On the other hand, this is the subject of considerable dispute: a 16 and 1/2 year old was groped 40 plus years ago by a family friend who was twice her age while the girl’s mother was nearby. She made a public report of the incident for the first time only 40 years later, when she made additional outcries of a groping that occurred at the man’s wedding some few years later and another when she chose to go to his house to baby sit 20 plus years later. The man admits and apologizes to the first incident but denies the other two. And the woman’s mother recalls only a report by the woman of the first incident. Britain’s reporting and choice of accounts tries to make a connection between these two very different incidents and did no testing of the second woman’s account. The implied claim that Morrison’s lenient sentencing of the first assailant was somehow affected by his own responsibility for the groping is unsubstantiated and more than speculative, particularly given his exemplary judicial service for more than 30 years. You would want their entire life to be judged by their very worst 30 minutes from 40 years before?

I admire the strength and courage of the women in this podcast so much. Their willingness to be so vulnerable and share what they are going through is so powerful.

I gave it five stars but I actually think it deserves 4.5 stars ONLY because the fifth episode was a tad slow and I found it unnecessary, but I binged the whole series otherwise! I love the reporter and applaud the bravery of the two women who spoke out against those that sexually assaulted them.

Besides the heroic courage and bravery of Lauren Clark and Carole Griffin, what I find most remarkable in this story is the related nature of things. The way that one woman’s decision to call out her attacker publicly led to another woman’s ability to call out the Judge who assaulted her in her...Read full review »
