“Working with Joseph Liu through my career transition from researcher to health-supportive chef, I was constantly amazed at how he could provoke such wonderfully deep thoughts and considerations in me with the seemingly simple questions he would ask. I now understand that those “simple” questions were really quite strategic. In the midst of a stressful period in my life (considering a career change), I couldn’t see everything clearly. Joseph illuminated the hidden pieces by helping me pinpoint the steps I needed to take to clearly identify and then achieve my goals. He didn’t give me the answers, and he didn’t do the work for me, but he was an integral and irreplaceable guide on my journey.
After listening to episode 1 of his podcast, I find myself with that same feeling of awe, and I hope that you will take the opportunity to ask yourself some of the same questions Joseph asked me. Are you dissatisfied with your work? How do you know you are dissatisfied? What is one thing you can do today to begin exploring the possibility of a career change or shift?
My favorite part of the first episode is near the end where Joseph says, “It’s okay to start small. It’s okay for that start to be a little bit messy. And it’s okay if you don’t have everything figured out. Things don’t have to go perfectly right away. What’s important is that you just start. You’ll get better, and you’re going to become more polished over time.” He’s right. What is important is that we start . . . somewhere . . . anywhere. Listening to this podcast and utilizing the resources that Joseph provides are two great places to start. I wish you the best on your journey.”
