Ambitious, but Uneven
The acting is mostly good. There’s a lot going on in this story, plenty of action. But a lot of what is going on is really uneven. Each episode almost seems like a completely different show than all the others. How the men and fathers are developed and portrayed compared to the women and mothers really sticks out as a missed opportunity for a bit more thoughtful writing for the the moms. Ditto the lack of scientific detail in this SciFi adventure. And I’m not sure about the diving stuff, either. It’s always more immersive when these things are accurate and fleshed out instead or glossed over. There’s also some issues with uneven volumes in the sound. I’d had it turned way up for the intro montage only to have my ears blasted when the main character dialog started. That makes listening a lot harder. Which is a shame because so much of the sound design is really nice.
