Description
The Lord’s Prayer: Your Will Be Done
Pastor Kent Landhuis
THEME - Teach us to pray so that we have confidence that in our lives we will experience God’s will.
TEXT - Matthew 6:9-10, Luke 7:1-10
OUTLINE - Praying the Lord’s Prayer grows our confidence.
1. We find our confidence in knowing God’s plan.
What is God’s will (plan) for my life? Scripture’s inerrancy. Providential circumstances. Conviction based on reason. Holy Spirit impressions. "Therefore, my brothers, I implore you by God’s mercies to offer your very selves to Him, a living sacrifice, dedicated and fit for His acceptance, the worship offered by mind and heart. Adapt yourselves no longer to the pattern of the present world, but let your minds be remade and your whole nature thus transformed. Then you will be able to discern the will of God and to know it is good, acceptable, and perfect." Romans 12:1-2 NEB2. We ground our confidence in God’s authority.
Luke 7:1-10Matthew 8:23-27Luke 7:11-17Luke 7:36-50Matthew 8:28-343. We rest confidently in God-centered prayers.
"Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." ~ Matthew 6:10"My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." ~ Matthew 26:39"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." ~ Hebrews 11:1NEXT STEPS
Pray with confidence. "Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." ~ Hebrews 4:16
