Gatekeepy but Smart
I’ve only just started listening, and I would like to say that the hosts are smart and articulate. I like the music they play and the depth that they go into on a variety of topics. The ascetics of the show is excellent. My only complaint is it seems like the hosts do quite a lot of gatekeeping. Being as that I am from a small town in Alabama, I don’t often get to interact with the scene. I feel a little alienated to be honest, because they consistently seem to talk about the importance of interacting with the scene in person when that is a privilege of living where there is a scene. Still, even though I don’t always agree with their take on what it means to be goth, they put together an excellent show. If you are interested in following a podcast that is an insiders perspective on the goth scene as well as get exposed to all sorts of cool goth stuff, look no further. I hope that as I dig into more episodes I will fine more of them talking about meaning in gothic music, literature, and fashion with less gatekeeping. Keep it up guys.
