“I worked for Cisco yet I wasn’t Cisco through and through it was midway into my career after a few years in other big tech companies and trying my hand at a few start ups. I used to compete with them and when I had the opportunity to start one of their cloud businesses from scratch I have to say I was fascinated into how Cisco could scale markets. So yep I spent quite a few years starting up one of the cloud business in EMEAR and first hand got to saw how John operated that comes across in his podcasts. The way he truly empowers people is unique, he sees things differently and has a genuine curiosity about making the world a better place. A total zero ego person who built one of the tech titans - whatever people say decades on and in this new world, it’s leaders like John who built companies to be agile, to grow through adjacencies built around an incredible culture. The rules today are no different to what they are now, sure the technology has come on but it’s all about people. Interesting to hear from a few of the folks interviewed given they are ex Cisco. Maybe I’m biased but I value listening to these podcasts”
