Missed Opportunity
Im admittedly cynical of the sensationalized investigative podcast, but this story was unique and well written. However as it progresses it seems to get lazier and lazier, and instead of a fascinating expiration of a troubled psyche, it relies on outdated tropes and the absurdity of the con to avoid any real social commentary. The writers want us to take them seriously as journalists (“investigating is HARD!”), but don’t seem to talk the responsibility seriously themselves. There are moments the presenters literally taunt the subject themselves, and at one point allow threats of vigilante justice to go uncommented on. And when they finally discuss mental illness as a factor that might explain the progression of the behavior, instead of trying to understand it, it is dismissed as a purely legal defense. Entertaining journalism is a craft, one that this program let slip from its fingers.

More reviews of Chameleon: Scam Likely
I’m not a fan of this style of podcast rather liking single narration storytelling more. But I was mesmerised by this one. Excellent delivery. We’ll constructed. Recommended
