“A captivating and heartbreaking story about a devious scam that ruins the life of hard-working ordinary people. A true crime listen for people who don’t like it too bloody. The podcast is very very told since it explains a rather technical, complicated scam yet conveys that behind every successful scam operation is a person who fell victim to it and suffers the consequences. This is no Robin Hood-Tale „Steal from the rich and give to the poor.“ What makes this scam so devious it that it preys on ordinary people who work hard for their money. Even the scammers on the front-line who make the calls to trick immigrants and people who pay their taxes out of any money they might have, are sort of working-class victim themselves. It also highlights that everyone can fall for a scam if the circumstances are right and how victims are often blamed of not taken seriously.
You can trust the „Chameleon“-Series. Every Season is incredibly well told and produced. Love the individual intro that changes every season with a little individual audio bites from the story. By far my favorite is the first one „Hollywood Con Queen“, also about a scam, yet of a different nature. Listeners who like Stories about the mechanics of Scams an empathetic, good research will like „Scam Likely“.”
