“I read The Power of Habit when the book came out- and was excited to see this related podcast!
The reporter from the NYT is a perfect fit for this podcast- she allows herself to be vulnerable while going through adventures- in hopes of discovering ways to crack the puzzle of how habits and behaviors are formed and broken. I grew to really love her as a character in the story and hope she is in future episodes.
Each episode has very different content but the format is similar allowing the show to strike a reliable rhythm. I find this particular podcast to defy my up front assumptions- At first I didn’t like the fusing of a personal ‘guest’ narrative with that of an overarching ‘instructive’ narrative- I thought at first that is was awkward and a little forced, but after listening to all the episodes I have grown to really appreciate what they did here! I see each episode as a guidebook to how we can learn from these stories and apply the lessons, albeit indirectly at times, to our lives. And the personal narratives bring the big stories down to earth.
Great stuff!”
