Saddened to leave this review
I have enjoyed Brittany’s content over the passed two years, but unfortunately I am choosing to unfollow now. Through their adoption journey they have chosen to use incredibly offensive terms such as “children of our own” and “failed adoption”, and calling a woman a “birth mother” before she signs relinquishment papers. To people actively in the adoption community (myself being an adoptee and writer for adoption.com), these terms are not okay. I have tried to reach out with my concerns, but my comments always get deleted. Jordan & Brittany seem unwilling to learn about adoption from people with real life experience, and this is concerning for any future children they welcome into their home. I truly believe their hearts are in the right place, but they seriously need some proper adoption training before going full steam ahead in the adoption process. I really hope this review comes across their radar, and they they earnestly seek wise counsel (proverbs 1:5) (adoptees, birth moms, and veteran adoptive parents). I have recommended the podcast “ADOPTION NOW” hosted by April Fallon, an adoptive mom x 4. “Who am I really?” Hosted by Damon Davis, adoptee and adoptive dad x 2, and “birth mothers amplified” hosted by two birth moms. I have also recommended they read “the primal wound” by Nancy Verrier, an adoptive mother. And that they seek out articles on adoption.com. For example an article I wrote from the perspective of an adoptee all grown up, “adoption language matters”. It’s all about how my adoptive parents used the CORRECT language when raising me, and how others used harmful terms that effected me negatively as a child. This gathered nest, a set of Christian parents who have adopted 6 children, are a fantastic resource on YouTube. As well as Phil & Alex Congelliere, another Christian family on YouTube who have adopted two girls. As someone who is employed for the purpose of educating hopeful adoptive families, I can no longer listen to their hurtful adoption language and not be heard when I speak. I pray God opens the eyes of Brittany and Jordan to all the many resources from the adoption triad, making their future adoption a healthy one for them, their future child, and that child’s biological mother.

I’m so pumped for this podcast! I’ve watched Brittany (and most the rest of the world) go through heartache, heartbreak and yet, she finds joy in the Lord and I can’t wait to listen and learn from her testimony!
