I have some thoughts
I listened to this because it starts Brigette Lundy-Paine, and I am a big fan of theirs. I think this show was pretty good. It was entertaining to listen to, albeit sometimes a bit confusing to follow, but I think that adds to the main character’s experience. However, I think there are ways that the writing could’ve been slightly altered to be a lot more progressive, which I believe would’ve elevated the experience. The largest example I have would be the last episode when we find out Prizrak’s gender. The entire series, we didn’t know Prizrak’s gender and we never questioned it because it’s not relevant to the storyline. I feel like the scene where that information is revealed could’ve been ENTIRELY removed from El and Prizrak’s conversation, and it would not have changed the story in the slightest. I thought it was rad that they wrote El to be queer, but it was slightly negated by unnecessarily adding the scene where El discusses Prizrak’s gender.

More reviews of City of Ghosts
I’ve only just found this and I can’t stop listening. The story is interesting, the characters feel real and the acting is very good. I don’t want it to end.

Terrific. Occasionally funny, always humane and a great investigation story.

City of Ghosts is a masterfully written, acted, and engineered series that allows you to get lost in the story, relate to the characters, and immerse yourself in the sounds of the City. Some of those sounds though can’t be heard by all.
