“I have to advance every podcast to about the 8:45 minute mark to avoid the humdrum banalities of the professor. I am not interested in the events at your backwater college. It is not germane to the listener. He is quite impressed with himself. This is how tenure affects the academic types. He also commits the cardinal sin of interpreting historical events, especially involving slavery, through modern eyes. This is okay for laymen, but completely unforgivable from a seasoned history professor. Sir, you know better... Additionally, he often interjects his left wing political views. Subtly of course, but it is quite obvious.
The show content is usually quite interesting. Delving into little discussed areas and topics. I enjoy it. However, it suffers because the host is quite dry and rather uninspiring. And it begs the obvious question; How do your students remain awake? This could be so much better. Perhaps if it were hosted by one of your teaching assistants? Someone with a bit more energy and enthusiasm.”
