Excellent Narration and Wonderful Stories
Tony has a beautiful voice, one made for narration. Listening to him lulls one, but also draws one into each story. He has excellent taste in his choice of ghost stories, most of which I have not come across. And therein lies the added attraction — Tony ends each story with a short summary of the writer’s life literary career highlights. This certainly sets him apart from other narrators. But he doesn’t limit his episodes to stories of writers who are no longer with us. He occasionally presents work by living writers and his interviews with them are included with his narration of their stories. A true delight! Tony clearly works hard to support other writers, and has talent as an interviewer as well. He allows them to showcase their work, and reveal their own motivations and inspirations. A wonderful by-product of such episodes is that these writers share lessons in how aspiring writers can find their own voice and a welcoming audience. There is a distinct intelligence and warmth in these interviews, where the conversation is free of the breathless and excited plugging of personal brands that I often find in other podcasts. All in all, listening to this podcast brings to mind the word “companionable”. This is a talented and generous narrator who works hard at giving us value. I am rarely bored and often finish his episodes feeling inspired, and that I’ve learned something worthwhile about long-gone writers. Perhaps I best convey my appreciation of Tony’s work by opting for the paid subscription. I highly recommend that you do as well. I would like to see him do much more, both for his own writing and that of theirs.

I stumbled upon these stories on YouTube and have become obsessed. Tony is an amazing narrator and I find myself drawn into the tales and am fascinated by them. Another thing I appreciate is the commentary at the end, a brief bio of the author, discussion about the genre in general, even the...Read full review »

I totally love the stories but some of them seem to be read at break neck speed. The Taipan being an example of this. It almost sounds like it has been played at the wrong speed and is very disorienting and doesn’t make for a relaxing listen which is what I’m after. Please can your narrators take...Read full review »
