Double standard
I am also a child of poor immigrants, and I will never apologize for my designer gear. The whole point is for their children to have better everything than what they had, so enjoy it. The double standard that needs to be addressed is when people like JLO, who grew up poor, get slammed for being a “diva,” while people born with privilege, like Affleck, get celebrated for being “a jeans and a tee shirt kind of guy.” He manipulated JLO into getting a cheap vegas wedding, then she has to pretend to love it on Kimmel, because if she complains, she’s a “diva.” That is clearly discriminatory in regard to race and gender. After watching my mother wreck her body cleaning hotels and rich people’s houses for decades, and never getting to own any home of her own, you better believe I am going to use my American-born privilege to spoil her in her senior years.

He blows a potential brilliant episode with Terri Gross but the later episodes take off with strong interviews and plenty to...Read full review »
