In this activity, an expert in cardiology discusses low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor–independent therapies for homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) via two patient case studies. Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to: Identify patients with HoFH through differential diagnosis; Review the clinical profiles of novel strategies to reduce LDL cholesterol in patients with HoFH that work independently of LDL receptors; and Outline patient-centered strategies to maximize quality of life for patients with HoFH on lipid-lowering therapies.
