“In my adulthood, I’ve always struggled with running. I grew up playing competitive soccer which lead to me being a pretty consistent runner (I mean obviously right you have to run in soccer). As I got older, I stopped running. Every time I tried to start again, I’d get so angry with myself for not being as good as I once was. I’d give it an honest effort for a week or two then stop saying “I’m just not a runner.” (This issue probably also coincides w the fact that every coach growing up used running as a punishment soooo)
But then at the wise, old age of 26 - I found coach Bennett through NRC. I started doing guided runs with him and began to fall in love with the sport. He taught me to slow down, to look around & enjoy my surroundings, to mix it up & to find happiness because even when I feel slow, “every run has a purpose.” Coach Bennett is just a lovely human and this podcast showcases that even further because “this is about running and it’s not about running.”
This man is the real life Ted Lasso. If you need a little happiness & positivity, you will certainly find it here.”
