Join us for a candid converstaion with singer-songwriter Jo Lawry!
Lawry's music crosses many genres, including jazz, chamber music, skat, folk, and a little something all her own. Her debut album, I Want to Be Happy, was released in 2008 to rave reviews and named among the "Best CDs of the Decade" in Downbeat Magazine. She has also been featured as a guest on numerous modern jazz recordings, including Dr. Lonnie Smith's album Rise Up! and Kate McGarry's Grammy-nominte If Less is More...Nothing is Everything. Her new album will be released mid-2014, and features a duet with Sting on her own song, "Impossible."
Lawry is also an accomplished background singer, touring with Sting since 2009, and more recently with Sting and Paul Simon on their North-American double-bill tour. A multi-instrumentalist, she also played violin on Sting's 2011 Back to Bass tour. She was recently featured in the Academy Award-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom.
