Conflicted
I usually love this podcast but the most recent episode has given me pause. Up until your guest started talking about critical Race theory and the notion that it’s inciting racism and that in the past all people were judged on the merits of their character I was in agreement with what she was saying. As a Racism is embedded in western society, its structures and systems. That is just a fact. The fact that the civil rights movement was only a few generations ago (still less than 100 years) should highlight the fact that while things have moved forward, there is still a way to go. There are people who are still alive who were not allowed to sit at the front of the bus or eat in white only restaurants. In my country, the U.K. we have just had a major Tory (conservative) party donor say racist and violent things about a black female politician with no repercussions. Respectfully the respect and fairness that black and brown people have been crying out for is all we want, Not the condescension that the guest intimated her husband had experienced. Should all white people be made to feel like they are responsible for racism or are racists? No, but we shouldn’t ignore the fact that racist ideologies formed some of the systems that are in place and true equality and equity can’t happen until we replace these systems. Just say that you want the systems that made you feel comfortable to stay in place regardless of the impact they have on others. That would be more honest. Really disappointed.

Finally there’s someone out there willing to show you that you can be real. Real messy, real broken, real CRAPPY. You don’t have to be a perfect mom, wife, friend, or even a perfect Christian. God uses all your broken pieces to help hold others together. And none of us are alone in that.

This podcast has seriously breathed life into me and helped me to start realizing just how much God has made me exactly the way I am for HIS purpose. I love the non sugar coated words of wisdom and overwhelming love of God that Blake brings to the table! Thank you for doing what you do.
