Essential public service - and great listening
Every so often you come across something transformative. An idea so obvious and simple and incredible that it just reaches down and grabs you. I found one of those today with Jen Briney’s Congressional Dish podcast. Each week, Jen reads all of the bills passed by each house of congress that week. She then reports on all of them via her podcast. She has done 93 episodes since 2012. She is in the top 35 of podcasts on iTunes. She reached #1 on the front page of Reddit. Jen Briney is an American Hero. Her podcast is so vital and essential, I can’t believe no one has done this before. It’s also entertaining. She took one of the “driest” subjects (think about most of C-Span) and turned it into something quite interesting and engaging. She did it all by herself too! It’s also one of the most essential topic, and she is shining a light into traditionally dark and opaque corners. And she’s covering DC better than any of the national news networks (again – by herself!) all the way from Oakland, CA. Jen is an exemplary living example of SHIPPING first and then iterating and revising. Everything takes time, but she’s putting out great content one week at a time. And I believe it has a chance to change the way citizens’ engage with our government. Also – she did it via making a podcast. I immediately signed up to donate every month, listened to an episode, subscribed, tweeted about her work online, and reached out to her directly to offer some form of help. One of the things I write a lot about is trying to encourage people to just get out there and DO IT. Jen did that. She’s changing the world by doing that. She is changing her country by doing that. She is leading by example. I encourage everyone to subscribe, donate, and listen to Congressional Dish and Jen Briney’s vital, essential work. Thank you sincerely for your contribution, Jen.

Very one sided podcast. Basically makes fun of republicans and only gives one side of the story. I have liked a few episodes, but for the most part she keeps information silent that would contradict the narrative. Sound like mainstream media?

Proud to support the show (and it would be cool if you did too.) I'm surprised to see so many people demand Jennifer read the bills with the enthusiasm of a Terminator. She has an opinion. That's what compels her to read every bill she reads. But the difference between her opinions and,...Read full review »
