Wildflower enthusiasts in Alaska rely on Verna E. Pratt’s field guides to Alaskan wildflowers and berries to help them identify the array of flora from mountaintops to the coast. In 1999, when Ginger Hudson purchased her first Field Guide to Alaskan Wildflowers, she had no idea she was destined meet the iconic author, Verna E. Pratt–twelve years later.
Today, Ginger Hudson is the newsletter editor for the Master Gardeners in Anchorage and Secretary of the Native Plant Society. She is enrolled in the UAA MFA Creative Writing and Literary Arts Program to complete her publication, The Life and Legacy of Verna Pratt, Alaska’s Wildflower Wizard.
