Key points covered in this episode:
[07:22] Welcome to Episode 73! The Power of Self-Expression with Emily Utter
Listen in if you want to sell in a way that feels natural and good and isn't all sleazy and pushy. Our guest, Emily Utter, is an expert on this topic. She is a business coach, sales trainer, and creator of a program called Sales Power System, and she works with many adventurous coaches.
[16:22] For almost all of us, our zone of genius lives in the part of us that somebody shamed in our lives.
We all have unique talents, gifts, and ways of expression that have often been discouraged or shamed. Our parents, teachers, friends, family members, or even complete strangers might have said cruel things that tried to force us to conform to a mold we weren't meant to fit.
Nevertheless, it is these very traits that make us special and fulfills our purpose to offer nourishment to those around us. Who we are can help liberate others.
[21:05] Self-expression needs to permeate every aspect of the business. Instead of worrying about turning people off, think that showing up online as your true self is a magnet for the people who are the right fit for you.
[24:55] Emily recommends: start tracking where you self-censor, not just in business, but in life.
Many people need to realize how much they're trying to please others. Unconsciously, we are paralyzed by fear of the opinion of others. They write a post, and in the back of their mind, they're thinking, What will my spouse think? Or What are my previous clients going to think? That happens a lot in the coaching industry, especially when someone is up-leveling or shifting their niche.
[28:51] When we're not expressing our gifts, we're reducing our impact.
People in our world are not just doing this to make a buck but because we know we have a gift to give. Every time you put out content, find yourself holding back and censoring yourself from your social media network – take a step back and think about it – why do you often do that? Understandably, you may feel guilty or fear being judged, but you must focus on doing what's best for you and your purpose.
[37:47] Role-playing is a highly undervalued technique that will spell success in launching your next webinar, program, mastermind, or event.
Emily says that ensuring you do this activity in your business is proven to make a difference. To optimally prepare, role play with another person (who's not necessarily a sales expert) who can help you look out for "energetic bumps." This allows you to find hidden currents that you may unconsciously communicate that make you look and sound inauthentic.
[44:47] We need more impact players out there to shift the consciousness of every industry.
Every day, we are thrilled to work with heart and soul-centered entrepreneurs using their gifts to empower others to improve the world. To see real change, we need more passionate people to overcome their sales and marketing hurdles, join this movement, and achieve collective transformation.
For every ᴄᴏɴꜱᴄɪᴏᴜꜱ ᴍᴀʀᴋᴇᴛᴇʀ out there – thank you for your courageous commitment to making a difference!
