Discipleship vs Partisanship
I am unable to put into words how extremely thankful I am for this podcast. I know that sounds like exaggeration but it is not!! The last four years have not only been a political nightmare but my comprehension of political choices by members of the church has shaken me. There were many days while reading from the Book of Mormon as part of Come Follow Me that despair and foreboding was what I felt. The warning or promise so frequently given, ...keep my commandments....prosper in the land...not keep my commandments....shall be cut off...” Thank you for the reminder that we are to be disciples of Christ first and foremost! Evil is not of God, cruelty is not of God, egocentrism is not of God, lifting oneself up in pride is not of God. Yet it appears that many members of the church would rather align themselves with a near radicalized political party than turn away. I was so ashamed and sickened when a Utah Senator compared Donald Trump to Captain Moroni in front of thousands, many of which I assume were members of the church. This insult to a brave, good, fearless patriot of the Book of Mormon was met with tumultuous applause. I am not a resident of Utah but thank you Senator Mitt Romney for upholding your principles and values in front of the world. Thank you Ben McAdams for fulfilling your political office according to the dictates of your own conscience and with the welfare of those who so entrusted you with said duties. Even at the end of this desired cathartic review I long to say, “Whew, l am glad we got through all of that. I can now go back to my daily concerns pre-2016. I fear we cannot.” A WV listener and a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I truly love Bro. and Sister Givens. They provide a wonderful service for those who try to understand “the deep things of God.” He is not judgmental of those who may struggle and does not apologize for the doctrine as it is currently understood. Keep up the great work everyone.
