What happened to FAIR?
I used to listen to CounterSpin punctually every week and recommend it to everyone I knew as sharp, critical, really serious media criticism. Chalk up another casualty to the Trump era; sometime right around 2016 their commentary began to be almost indistinguishable from Media Matters or any other “progressive” nonprofit arm of the Democratic Party, just scoring smarmy rhetorical points against Republicans and preaching to the choir with bland liberal politics, while never thinking too hard about anything at all, including the show’s remit of how and why the media covers the world the way it does. It’s truly depressing to tune in to a show that carried me through the Iraq War years and hear the hosts do self-satisfied little snaps about what “Black people been knowin’ about” and the 1619 Project.

I like when I see a new episode pop up in my feed. Consistently good interviews. Janine Jackson is one of my favorites. I wish it were longer than it is.
