To commemorate the Season 7 finale, I have my mum, Susan Young, on!! You are in for such a treat to get to meet the woman who has inspired me, fed me and loved me my whole life! I felt like after 7 seasons it was time to introduce the queen in my life, my best friend, my “momager”, my disco diva! Mum delves into her incredible childhood between Iran, Norfolk and London and how it set her up for life. She goes back to when her mother met her Iranian father at a dance in the 1950s in England, and subsequently moved back to Iran where my mother became quite ill. She was brought back to the UK, had her identity changed and didn’t meet her real father until she was 17!  She reminisces about coming down to London aged 18 to become a Bunny Girl at the original Playboy Club in the 70s, meeting her first Iranian boyfriend and embarking on a career in the antiques and jewellery business. We cover her whole life in food; how she was taught to make Iranian food, where her ethos comes from when thinking about cooking and making delicious meals. We reminisce about the best dishes of my childhood, her gourmet packed lunches and what makes a great home cook. I love my mum so much, and she really is the foundation to my knowledge of food, taste, flavour and cooking. I owe so much to her, particularly my appreciation of eating.
