Eating healthy. Exercising regularly. Sleeping on a schedule. Supplementing with nutrients. But what about learning and developing a mastery around something of interest, something new?
Believe it or not, you have an innate biological desire to learn and continue learning. And for those who didn't like school, it's not about textbook studying.
You get to choose what you master. You can focus only on the bare necessities and get stuck on that roller coaster. Or you can choose to try new and different things to continue to be alive and thrive.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Choose to try new and different things! It's all about getting out of your comfort zone. Habits are great to establish for everyday living, but for the long-term effects of well-being, you want to interject new and different. Let those neurons fire on all cylinders. Don't let your brain go to sleep and get lazy.
Choose to try new and different things. And then master what you enjoy.
Indulge your curiosity. Curiosity keeps you engaged in life. You arrived in this life with hyper-curiosity. From infants into adulthood, we learn from a curious perspective. However, it's easy to settle in a mute our curiosity. Curiosity did not kill this cat, you! So time to wake up your curiosity. Divert your attention. The key here is to change your focus on your pain and problems, to what is more fulfilling and brings you joy. Find your balance between pain and progress. Don't get stuck in the everyday mundane. If you stay stuck in your pain and problems, where will that lead you? No closer to ending the pain and problems. You must be willing to go beyond the pain and embrace progress, something new. Be creative, not lazy. Be willing to learn. Stop being stagnant. Every day, I am learning something new. Some things it's mere enjoyment. Others it's for mastery.
You get to choose to try something new and different. Then you can decide what you want to master. Make it a game in your every day. Take AIM on what's new and see what raises your curiosity. If you were to pick one thing new a week, you would learn 52 new things in a year.
Just yesterday, I was studying about the tree canopy in my town. Who would have thought a year ago that would be my indulgence? But I have learned new things that will help me in caring for the trees around me, including the over 100-year-old Oak Tree and a few others I'm not really sure about.
A life well-lived comes by challenging your mind, body, and spirit while learning and mastering of new skills and interests.
