I am in love with this woman
Do you remember being a kid and learning about the properties of animals and nature for the first time? Do you remember that delightful sense of wonder you experienced upon looking at your first bird or fish? When the world confirmed that your imagination rings a lot more true than how little adults claims it does? Katie Goldin remembers that feeling. She sees it in all of the obscure species and amazing phenomenom of the animal kingdom that we overlook on a daily basis, just so that the glee of seeing the world for how hilarious and magical it truly is doesn’t get in the way of our super-serious adult crap. And her unabashed love for it is contagious. She has an adorable and endearing voice, and if you give into it, you’ll find yourself very disappointed with how little playfulness most people bring to the table. She demands that you give in to giggling and let out your inner-dork. You’ll find yourself intoxicated to the point of forgetting any concepts of “cool” and “mature.” You’ll find yourself compelled to introduce a little more silly into your life. But this playful presentation would ONLY be charming if she didn’t have the content to back it up. Thankfully she does. The crazy animal behaviors and relationships are obscure and astouding. They’ll liven up your dinner conversations and add levity to your morning commute. The fact is, every animal is incredible in their own way and humans are not as much of the center of the world as we feel we are. We’re just extraordinary in a specific way - one that’s not necessarily “better” than any other way. When you zoom out, chuckling is an important step in the process of coping with the existential fear that this realization can cause. Katie is here to assist you with that fight and remind you that it’s a fun struggle - you merely have to stop looking at animals with fear and revulsion, and start looking at them with humor and playful awe. I have a new podcaster crush <3

There was a space in my life for this kind of podcast. I’m glad it’s been filled. 🙂

It’s not the creatures that are creepy on this show. It’s Katie. After being tortured by her advertisements on a couple of my regular podcasts with her “Game of Thrones is a dumb show for babies” commercial, I decided to check out if this show was as annoying as I thought it was. It was. She...Read full review »

It’s a great concept but why is there so much swearing? It’s unnecessary. With all the words in our vocabulary why do you need to swear in a podcast? I would argue that there’s a time and place for swearing, and it’s certainly not on this type of podcast. Disappointed.
