Youngstown Proud! It really happened like this!
Born in 1954 in the Smoky Hollow neighborhood of Youngstown, I was exposed to all that is good about Youngstown, and, I guess, the not so good! This podcast really brings all of that back to life for me. Enjoyed every episode! I left Youngstown for South Florida in 1980, taking my “non-Youngstown” wife with me after a patient of mine was killed in while holding up the Gray Drug Store in nearby Warren, where I worked after graduating from Pharmacy School. The holdup was in January 1979. Exposed, through friends to some of the “stars” of the Podcast, who had interest in my career and what I might bring t them, prompted me to get out of the area before doing something stupid. Still see that as one of my best moves. As is said, you can take the kid out of Youngstown but you can’t take Youngstown out of the kid! Will always be home for me.
