Genuine, funny, engaging and informative
This is the only podcast that I actually look forward to listening to each week, although I listen to many others. Joe’s long-form interviews with wildly different personalities reveal so much that is unknown about different scenes in the world of fishing. He accomplished this without being mired in the framework of corporate commercialism which taints many other similar shows. The show is also hilarious at points, with regular segments and guests that you can actually get excited about when they pop up. Being a product of the 80’s and 90’s, it’s hard not to smile at the myriad pop-cultural references Joe peppers throughout his shows. If you have ever spent any time in the northeast, you will also likely hear mention of people and places that take you back - like when Joe mentioned the first party boat I ever fished on as a kid - the Blackhawk. Finally, the musical component of this show can’t be ignored either. Cermele’s knowledge of various genres of punk, hardcore and metal adds a dimension to this content that really rounds it out. Many times I have gone back and listened to a track or album he has referenced on the show - he even has a companion playlist on Spotify. This pod is pure gold and will make you want to go out and wet a line every time you listen to it.

If you’re like me and are obsessed with fishing, and also want to turn off life and drift away for a little over an hour this the podcast. I am always looking forward to the Friday morning commute. Gets me juiced for the weekend’s fishing plans!

The show is less about how or where to catch fish and more about fishing culture in general. Even though my personal types of fishing are very different from the host’s, I still find the show relatable, entertaining and enjoyable. I recommend anyone who likes fishing to give it a go.

Love listening to Joe. He’s the guy you’d exchange fish stories with down at your local spot. He’s not here for clout, it’s just what he does and who he is.
