The daily sacrifice resumed on God's altar, but the Second Temple itself was not yet rebuilt (see Ezra 3:6). Ezra the Scribe read the Torah to the exiles who had returned to Jerusalem (see Nehemiah 8:1). It may be the day Messiah was born in Bethlehem of Judah (possible date, see Luke 2).
