Israeli political analyst Akiva Eldar predicts Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is eyeing an end to the war in Lebanon. This would be a way to address the Israeli public’s war fatigue and also shift the international media narrative after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him, Eldar told Al Jazeera. Ending the war would also buy Netanyahu more goodwill from the United States, especially from incoming President Donald Trump whom he has been in touch with, Eldar said.
Russia has launched another missile attack on the Ukrainian port city of Odesa. Some buildings in the central suburbs were damaged. Another attack has also been reported in the city of Kharkiv near the border with Russia, injuring 19 people.
