November 30, 2024, Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle, Holy Rosary (Joyful Mysteries)
Description
Friends of the Rosary,
Today, November 30, the last day of Ordinary Time in the current Liturgical Year, the Church of Christ celebrates the Feast of St. Andrew, a fisherman from Bethsaida in Galilee, a former disciple of John the Baptist, and one of Jesus' closest apostles. St. Andrew's feast signals the beginning of Advent.
St. Andrew the Apostle introduced his brother Peter to Jesus, saying, "We have found the Messiah."
After Pentecost, he preached in Greece, where he was martyred on a cross as an "X." This type of cross has long been known as "St. Andrew's cross." Medieval artists suggested that Andrew was unworthy to die on a cross identical to our Lord's.
St. Andrew is also the patron saint of Scotland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and Patras.
Ave Maria!
Jesus, I Trust In You!
St. Andrew, Pray for Us!
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
To Jesus through Mary!
