Session - Friday Morning - Barcelona 5-day Retreat - From Theory to Practice with David Hoffmeister The projected world of space and time is an ego trick, diverting our attention to external discomfort instead of recognizing it within the mind. This belief in separation and a fall from grace is a mental construct that needs to be exposed and released. The ego is intricate, with layers of illusions and varying levels. Our heartfelt prayer is, “Give me the simple life,” yet we often don’t even know what that simplicity truly is. Jesus and Buddha teach the middle way: “The kingdom of heaven is within.” They guide us not to change the projected world but to understand that it is an illusion. Jesus teaches that the world is a trick and that nothing we see has inherent meaning.  Our central problem is believing that nothing is something, and once we interpret it as something, we mistakenly call it real. Jesus instructs us to forget the world and come to God with empty hands, emphasizing the importance of contemplating our true nature and the nature of God. This teaching highlights the necessity of recognizing the unreality of our thoughts and experiences.
