Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Necessary.
I found myself crying in public while listening. So much of Alana’s story aligns with my own, and hearing this podcast simultaneously breaks my heart and gives me hope. It breaks my heart that so many suffer because they’ve been told — because of their sexuality, because of any other so-called sin — that they are not worthy, that they are broken. But I also have the hope that those who need to hear this story will find it, and will find healing.

More reviews of Dear Alana,
Wow
This one was deep and emotional. Thank you Simon, you are so well spoke as was Alana. Breaks my heart to hear, but her story needed to be told. I know who I blame in this situation, glad I left that church long ago.

Binge listened and really loved the story telling. The narrator’s connection makes it that much more visceral. I found parts of it hard and painful to listen to, seeing the pain religion causes first hand. But it is compelling and a must listen.

Alana’s story was as tragic as it was beautiful and the parallels between the host Simon’s life were gorgeously interwoven throughout while maintaining the heart of the podcast - Alana herself. I was incredibly touched and moved by this podcast.. bravo! Alana, I hope you’re finally at peace....Read full review »
