Eye opening
Wow, 2 episodes in and I have learnt so much that I didn’t know and was so oblivious to about the treatment of child stars. I’ve always steered my social media experience away from tabloid gossip about the “child star train wrecks” because it felt exploitative of already vulnerable people going through mental health issues and the last thing they need is for it to be talked about worldwide. At 25 I feel like I grew up alongside so many Disney and Nickolodeon stars yet it didn’t cross my mind to think about what happened offscreen, children’s bodies being touched by so many adults - even innocently by make up, wardrobe, and sound crew - at a time when it is so important for children to be learning about boundaries and what is and isn’t okay. I could list everything I’ve learnt so far but it would take the length of these 2 episodes so you should definitely check this series out for yourself. I want to say thank you to Alyson and for the other contributors for sharing this information and your experiences in order to educate others and bring about total change in the industry. Alyson speaks so eloquently and so bravely and intelligently. I am here and will continue to be here to find out what I can do to help put measures in place to stop the exploitation of children. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for talking about this.

I was not a child star but I am a person who deals with body autonomy issues that stem from early childhood. Hearing just the first episode is healing in a way that’s hard to explain but I’m sure many...Read full review »

Alyson is the perfect person for this. She is so well spoken, non judgmental and compassionate. It seems like she is able to so fluidly articulate what a lot of other starts are probably struggling to find the language for. Alyson is like the friend for favorite teacher who just gets you without...Read full review »
