“The tragedy/controversy of Mendieta’s death as reported in the Katz book expanded with that bloviating and exploitation now familiar from all crime podcasts but with hefty doses of self-aggrandizement by contributors (move over, Ana Mendieta!). No mention of the central point that no-one who represented or owned André’s work wanted his work’s value to plummet from a murder conviction. Hopefully this duo’s next “pod” won’t be applying the same hashtag-level theorising to, say, Caravaggio. If for some reason you don’t know Mendieta’s story just read “Naked by the Window”.”
