Helen Molesworth does a phenomenal job weaving the story of Ana’s death and the context surrounding it with such care. This podcast exists in a category all its own: offering the kind of literary reckoning with a culture so many listeners are hunting to find but proves to be exceedingly rare, especially in anything involving the story of a woman’s death. I attended CalArts in 2012 and found the environment unbelievably misogynistic. This podcast made me reflect on how I was taught both Carl and Ana’s works, but his monstrous acts were still quietly revered with a mix of fascination and awe. Thanks Helen for resurfacing this story so more generations can discover the genius of Ana’s voice and learn the truth.
