A secret weapon of the Cold War...
Was riveting, inspiring, and produced much reflection. Black composers of all tiers of performance from streets and churches to opera houses are not sufficiently honored for the dynamic musicality of America, which they most assuredly created and / or greatly influenced. I loved hearing the history of how it came to be staged, and knowing Gershwin actually researched the sound to make it authentic. I loved this show, which I just happened to be among the many choices of my Your Classical on Black History sent via email. While I am not synced to the modern podcast audience nor am I African American, I need programming like this to enlarge my view, and the views of others, to all the beauty and diversity in our world. Thank you. Now, off to hear your other podcasts....
