We're on site this week at the Jonsson Workwear Open at Glendower. Our first exploration into the media side of a real golf event is interesting to say the least.

We do a deep dive on par 5 holes in KZN and (eventually) come up with our official TOP 5 list. We contemplate what makes a great Par 5 and try balance our subjective eye-tests with more objective rankings. The number one rank may not be a surprise but JDV and Big T certainly throw some other interesting nominations in the hat. Karl updates us on his eagle hunt.

The LIV golf season is on us again and we have some fun working out players, venues and South African brands that should consider LIV sponsorships.

We do a brief post-mortem on 2023 and then lay out our aspirations for 2024. For the first time in ages, we're all together in person and its a jol. Can Karl finish the 13th at Cotswold? Will Terrence play 15 new courses this year and is it possible for JDV to play less golf? 

Our final full podcast for the year - we talk about the few stand-out performers on the South African pro golf front in 2023. We also dream of a re-invigorated SA Open and propose the five courses we think it should visit - with a cameo appearance from Dale Hayes with his thoughts.

This week we chat to Guy Smith - the visionary behind the Gowrie Farm Golf Club in the KZN Midlands. Guy talks us through his path to designing and building his own golf course and his obsession with classical design. Guy and his new partners Dale Hayes and Roger Newman will be opening 7 new holes at the course next year and we do a deep dive on a few of these holes and the inspiration Guy drew from all over the classical golf world.

World Champions! We could not help but do another golf-adjacent pod this week after the unbelievable performance of the Springboks over the last few weeks. Jerome joins us again and offers some profound insight into the legacy this Bok team will leave. JDV calls in from a dial-up connection and offers the perspective of a seasoned u11 referee.

Terrence regales stories from Paris after one of the best weekends in world rugby EVER. We chat about losing some of the best fans, European world cups and who we like in the semis. The LIV golf finale is also on this weekend - does anyone care anymore?

Jacques and T chat Ryder Cup and lay out what they hope to see (spolier alert - lets hope its close!).

We've made it to 10 episodes! Having said that - very little golf is discussed today! Karl and Terrence are joined by rugby twitter-ranter Jerome who gives some measured thoughts on tier 2 nations, the rise of Fiji and the Boks. We also do a deep dive on the controversial new rugby laws which seem well-intended, but are they damaging the physical brand of the game?

Our immediate excitement about being together in one room is thwarted by the post-production team who describe the final audio quality as "awful".   We banter our way through Rugby World Cup predictions, ideas for a local team golf franchise competition, and Ryder Cup thoughts. JDV shares some more devastating news about his brother's golf game and, in a surprise move, Karl actually plays golf.

In our first POD interview we chat with Geran De Klerk - the founder of the new golf app Wunderpar. Geran talks us through how they landed on the idea and how they see big potential in growing the platform both from a user and partner perspective. Terrence provides Geran with some feedback on a few specific partners he'd like to see integrated.

Our first deep dive - we chat about the course with the largest member tally in South Africa (and most have never set foot on the course!). We tell you why you should visit this little 9-hole gem to get your fill of country hospitality, golf soul-time, and mountain air.

Jacques and Terrence breakdown their initial reactions to the shocking news of the PGA Tour / LIV merger. We look at the winners and losers and ponder what this means for LIV, South Africans and Jacques's beloved Majesticks. 

We try our best to muster up some excitement for the PGA Champs. We have some random course facts and Terrence dives into some PGA history. We ponder how great an international PGA Champs would be. In our schoolyard picking game -  Jacques picks Kevin Na whom we later discover isn't actually in the field.

We deviate from pro golf this week to talk about our favorite halfway houses in KZN. The words curry gravy are mentioned alot as well as "terrible" and "windowless". Jacques is not impressed with one of T's nominations and we ponder whether Gowrie Farm is poised to take top spot.

LIV Adelaide is over and we chat about general winners, losers and bad tracers. Terrence is surprisingly upbeat about the whole thing and Jacques pops in for a cameo from the Baby City parking lot.

We look at the Masters that was and all the bets that got away. Cantlay gets some attention and we also chat about the plethora of drinking holes at LIV Australia. Karl updates us on his padel bet.

Our inaugural episode kicks off with a brief introduction of the team and then a roundup of results leading into Masters week. LIV / PGA / ANWA and even the Sunshine Tour get some oxygen before we jump into Masters themes. Gary Player is at it again and the Saffa offerings this year look bleak. We ponder LIV players success at the Masters and whether Eurphoria Golf Course is worth visiting.
