This week we read “Laces (Boys of Hawthorne Asylum Book 1)” by Tempi  Hawthorne Asylum is a place where families send the children they no longer want to deal with. After her District Attorney stepfather murders her sister, Gambrielle finds herself there. After years of suffering under his abuse, resulting in this tragedy Gambrielle wants to uncover the secrets and expose her step-father, but being stuck in an asylum wasn't part of her plan. It's at Hawthorne she meets Laces, a resident of the asylum who along with his 3 best friends (Reyes, Thorne, and Varla), rule the halls with their dominant and powerful presence. Laces makes no secret of the fact that he’s a bad person to have as an enemy, and a worse person to have as a friend. Just when Gambrielle is willing to “live a little” in the small window she and Laces have together, she’s slapped by an unbelievable shock and probable betrayal.  How did we rate it?
