I’ve played D&D since I was a kid, and was recently listening to Scam Goddess and Siobhan Thompson was a guest and ended it like “I also do this D&D game, probably small Venn diagram of fans” and I’m in that tiny centre ! This is like Buffy and Scott Pilgrim and Archie comics and Twin Peaks rolled into one. The cast and DM are genuine, enthusiastic, hilarious. I wander the pandemic streets listening to this and laughing into my mask til I cry really tears. From the very start, details are so intricate and make the world building connect outward to what the listener can imagine. The goblin’s single mom is a detective and pours them two bowls of cereal but they don’t have enough milk so she pours hers from her bowl into the kid’s and fills hers with water and they goblin eat it up. The shy half orc barbarian adopted by gnomes keeps breaking his bed. The elf girl who didn’t get into the academy casts Ray of Sickness at her annoying older sister. It’s so funny and so good. Also their sound designer/editor is perfect and adds in audio jokes and level ups and sfx which deepen the narrative. Each character has a range and layers, I genuinely love this show.

Great storytelling and production. A nice balance of humor and seriousness that doesn’t come across as forced.

The cast is incredible and Brennan Lee Mulligan is a hilarious, wild but somehow wholesome, creative genius. I’m so invested in this world that I really just want to be...Read full review »
