My new favorite show
Jim really cares about movies and seems passionate about the directors discussed. Guests do vary and I think he could use a regular co-host to bounce off again but there’s something about this show that works as an expression of film nerdom without the pretension. Maybe others prefer the one-movie approach of something like Blank Check, but I like the discussion generated when talking about a filmography or a selection of a director’s body of work. It may only come out monthly but it’s worth the wait. Always fun, always smart, never takes itself too seriously while being full of interesting insights.

And of course, it ends up being a much richer experience to watch an older Almodovar film I've never seen than whatever I can...Read full review »
