This week I began listening to a remarkable series by Deacon James Keating which was available 11 years ago and which is blowing my mind in 2022! I have no theological or philosophical training but I can understand what he’s saying & I keep thinking “Hey, I need to write down that sentence… This guy keeps explaining what I find so powerful about the Mass or about caring for my elderly parents!”
Nothing against my parish priests’ homilies down the years, but Discerning Hearts is giving us the sort of practical yet profound teaching that ordinary, hardworking Catholics dream of but do not know where to find!
From a daily 10 minute prayer with a short bible reading (lectio divina), to a series on famous Catholics to a series about famous approaches to living our Christianity such as Benedictine or Ignatian or Marian spirituality. Discerning Hearts is a very, very highly recommended source of inspirational, wide-ranging teaching, for any ordinary Catholic who wants more than the Sunday homily.”
