Description
We are back for PART 2 of our Destiny’s Child “Destiny Fulfilled” journey. In this episode, Angie (@poetrysoul3) and Steffi (@inn_mho) break down the era! For the first 20 minutes of this episode, we read and play your voice messages regarding thoughts on Part 1 of our Destiny’s Child “Destiny Fulfilled” episode plus a continued discussion on Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” and cultural appropriation. As always, a huge shout out and thank you to those of you who submitted your thoughts! In our Era Breakdown episodes, we touch on so many topics like career context, controversies/scandals of the era, marketing, music videos, live performances, album stats, and the album & era’s ultimate impact and legacy. For this episode, we talk about where Michelle, Kelly, and Beyoncé were at going into the Destiny Fulfilled era and how Beyoncé’s enormous solo success overshadowed the girls’ promotional tour. We also reflect on the “Poor Michelle'' narrative and how the general public contributed to the narrative. Plus, we share our thoughts on why we think Destiny’s Child’s “Destiny Fulfilled” era should be studied by future girl groups in the music industry. Again, this is part 2 of the conversation! So make sure you listen to part 1 where we discussed the album track by track. We hope you enjoyed our Destiny’s Child “Destiny Fulfilled” journey! Album Info: Destiny Fulfilled is the fifth and last studio album by American R&B trio Destiny's Child. It was released on November 16, 2004, by Columbia Records and Sony Urban Music. A comeback release, it marked the return of Destiny's Child after the group went into hiatus, which allowed each member to release solo albums. Unlike their previous material, this record saw each member equally contributing to the songwriting and production. Destiny's Child further worked with frequent collaborators such as Rockwilder, Swizz Beatz and Rodney Jerkins as well as several new producers. *Email us for show notes: [email protected] *Twitter & Instagram: @divadailiespod *YouTube: Diva Dailies Podcast STEFFI’S SOCIAL MEDIA: *Twitter & Instagram: @inn_mho *YouTube: innmyhumbleopinion ANGIE’S SOCIAL MEDIA: *Twitter: @poetrysoul3 *YouTube: Sleepy Nerd Productions TIME STAMPS: - Housekeeping (01:34) - Listener Feedback: (02:46) Era Breakdown (20:38) - Pop Corn & Pop Stars (20:50) - Spill the Technicolor Tea (39:54) - But We Need the Audience to Buy the Album (59:40) - Video Killed the Radio Star (69:18) - The Mic Is On (82:07) - Show Me the Receipts (87:41) - Impact/ Closing Thoughts (94:43) - Preview Next Week’s Episode (99:48)
