Does not make sense
You went back because you wanted to help as you suspected he may have been homeless but then you never asked if he was homeless and still don’t know...? You can’t exactly be upset at him and not at yourself when you got what you chose freely when you knew better. He showed you who he was early on and you acted like you didn’t care... Entertaining story, but this kind of feels also like a self-created problem for the purpose of finding content for a podcast and capitalizing on the popularity of pods like “Dear John”.
