Sadly Insufferable
So I am reticent to leave scathing reviews of podcasts. Even if I don’t take to a show, I know negative feedback can be hurtful at times, and sometimes shows just aren’t targeted at me. So if a show “isn’t for me,” I often just pass it by. I’ve probably listened to two dozen episodes of this show, hoping it would get better each time. There were a few that were passable, but never, not once, good or even enjoyable. As an avid DW fan, I’ve tried multiple fan podcasts, trying to find “the right one” with good commentary and reasonably likable hosts… This ain’t it, chief. These three are obviously died-in-the-wool fans, but they’re fans the same way toxic Star Wars fans are fans: their love for DW leads mostly to hatred of DW and quite especially to disgust for anyone who thinks of DW differently than them. They are rude, distasteful, and dismissive of the thoughts and feelings of others. More then once their words made me feel lesser or stupid, unwanted, for thinking or feeling a certain way about an episode, or a scene, or DW as a whole. If you love the joy of DW and you’re looking for a podcast that welcomes you into the community as fellow fans of a beloved series, go look somewhere else.

When you guys talk it's pretty good, but either stop doing commentaries or do them properly. No one likes a commentary track where the people have clearly not prepared in advance and at least half the track is total silence while we "listen" to them watch the show. We WANT to hear you...Read full review »
