Taylor Swift Eras Tour Tickets: Ticketmaster Verified Fan System and the Potential of NFTs
Listen now
Description
EP.130 In the new episode of the Girl In The Verse podcast, we discuss the Taylor Swift Eras Tour and the challenges fans have faced in getting tickets. An estimated 31 million people registered for Taylor Swift Eras Tour Toronto tickets, but many were still unable to secure a spot. The Verified Fan system is designed to help manage high demand shows by identifying real humans and weeding out bots. However, it's clear that the system is not perfect, as there are still many fans who are being left disappointed. I chat with Joey, the co-founder and CEO of Team Wen Moon, a web3 agency. Joey has also worked with over 20 NFT projects. We discuss the potential of NFTs to solve some of the problems with ticket scalping and reselling. Building on its NFT capabilities, Ticketmaster has launched the ability for artists to offer token-gated ticket sales. This means that a sale can only be unlocked or accessed with a specific NFT. This feature allows artists to reward holders of specific NFTs with access to everything from special presales and prime seats to exclusive concert experiences or even custom travel packages. We also talk about the potential for artists to create their own NFTs that can be used as tickets. This would give artists more control over the ticketing process and allow them to set their own rules, such as preventing scalping or requiring fans to agree to certain terms and conditions before they can buy a ticket. For example, Taylor Swift could create her own NFTs that could be used as tickets for her concerts. She could set a maximum resale price for the tickets, and she could also collect royalties on any secondary sales. This would help to ensure that fans have a fair chance of getting tickets to her concerts, and it would also help her to make more money from her tours. We think this is a promising development, and we're excited to see how it's used in the future. Taylor Swift needs to create NFTs. Watch now and join the conversation!
