Description
This week, we're presenting an episode of The Happiness Lab. On the show, Yale professor Dr. Laurie Santos shares surprising research and inspiring stories that change the way we think about happiness.  In this episode, Laurie talks to actor Rob Lowe about why nostalgia isn't always so rosy. Rob says that, as much as he loves the '80s, he's careful not to wallow too much in nostalgia for the music, fashions and events of his youth. Laurie explains that happiness science backs him up on this: Research suggests our memories of the past can be very selective and very unreliable - causing us to misremember events and cast them in a rosy glow. You'll learn why this causes us to make very bad decisions about what will make us happy in the future.  You can listen to more episodes of The Happiness Lab at http://podcasts.pushkin.fm/happinessdoubledate Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
