“Hi guys,
Listen to your podcast weekly. Navot/Aviv,
you bring on some really great people but there are some missed opportunities because of the lackluster interview format - your not bringing out the best of the guests!
What not to do:
1) Don’t let the interviewees talk about their background in a CV format. Not interesting. Let them tell a story instead.
2) Asking the question - “how does the core technology work?” Not enough time to answer this question, guest give generic messages like “we have an algorithm”, “based on AI”...
3) Navot, we don’t care about what your personal experience was with the app/service. Who cares? - take then LinkedIn or Moovit interviews as examples. Distracts the guest and bores the listeners
4) Navot, in many cases you patronize your guess, and your tone comes off as condensing. Watch out for that. Don’t pretend to know more than your interviewee about their market...
What you need to do:
1) Ask more about the company culture and how it impacts the business goals/product. How do they cope with crises?
2) Ask more about management structure and it copes with the type of growth the startup is experiencing
3) Ask about the core market challenges and what makes them unique, and their penetration strategy
4) Main point- get your interviewees to tell more stories!! Place the stories in a framework as a way to perceive their business. Think “Hashavua” podcast was the best at doing this.
Hope the feedback is helpful. It may not be your common review, but feel free to reach back.”
