#129 – The Golden Age of D&D Fiction with James Lowder
Listen now
Description
In this episode, Meaghan sits down with Chaosium executive editor and TSR alum James Lowder to discuss what it was like working as an author and editor at TSR in the late 80’s and early 90’s during the first major resurgence of the D&D fiction line following the Chronicles and Legends trilogy. We also talk specifically about Jim’s experience editing the “Defenders of Magic” trilogy by Mary Kirchoff, as well as the importance of paying proper respect (and paying proper money) to creators. Finally, we discuss the end of the D&D fiction line and Jim’s latest success with the award-winning “Pulp Cthulhu” supplement. This is part one of a two-part interview. Tune in next week for the second half, where Meaghan and Jim discuss Lord Soth, Knight of the Black Rose. Follow James Lowder on Facebook! Discover more about Chaosium! Visit the Dragonlance Nexus!
